A leaf leaves a tree

In the sky, 

from the ground

you can follow the tract
of the leaf
lighted on the wind,

plucked off its
 solid but soft brown sponge stem 

gliding now in a fall of oscillation 

upon an invisible pendulum swing

An accepting devastated branch

a billowing entranced wind 

a waiting wanting ground

and dirt which knows

no beginnings

and no ends
