honor
Beauty with the day around Us

my friend is dead tonight,
right now
he no longer breathes
confused
naked without belief
I stand,
I fall without belief
Empty hands wide
spread out

reaching fingers
Who has any real answers ?
his death
spreads poetry naked
makes words meaningless

never the first time for a death gathering and making its way to my company
but tonight

again
long ignored
ignored for no answers
the only thing certain is that now tonight
religion, afterlife, heaven these things are meaningless
take away anything from anyone's everything
it’s only in the absence of life
know-see this as the only world I-we have

Normally I'd write of fine things
wine, laughter, friends, and water
I'd write things as if they were endless
and we were forever young
but I don’t believe in that tonight
I believe in ? right now
